As related by Carl Orth
Brother of Carl Orth. He was on an aircraft carrier in WWII. While in the Navy he met his wife who was a WAC (Woman’s Army Corps). One Story that was shared by Carl Orth about his brother was the story of a shot up plane that landed on the aircraft carrier. When it landed it burst into flames and the machine guns were set off. Mr. Orth was shot in the leg and because of the warm climate of the South Pacific; it took months for his wound to heal. His aircraft carrier was also hit by a Kamikaze while Mr. Orth was aboard.
