Fred Orth

Theater Of Operations: The Pacific Theater

As related by Carl Orth.

Brother of Carl Orth. He was on a motor torpedo boat that did not have any torpedoes on it, which was known as a crash boat, and was stationed in the South Pacific. When a pilot would go down, these boats were fast so there were sent out to rescue pilots. They also had 50 caliber machine guns aboard the boat and when they were not rescuing pilots, they went on river patrol.
